Live Music
Live Music is a wonderful addition to any belly dance performance.
The interaction between the musicians and the dancer adds energy,
mood and style.
We offer Traditional and Modern Arabic music.
The Traditional Arabic Music Ensemble
 The Traditional Arabic Music Ensemble is a chamber music ensemble created in 1973 by
Dr George Sawa and the late Ebrahim Eleish to perform traditional Arabic music repertoire.
The instrumental repertoire includes the sama’i, bashraf (peshrev), longa, tahmila, taqsim, folk and classical dances; the vocal includes the Andalusian muwashshah, qad halabi, and folk and popular songs of Egypt and Syria.
The ensemble has recorded for the CBC, the Canadian Museum of Civilizations and performed in many venues in Canada (Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Art Gallery, CBC, Harbourfront, The Music Garden, University of Toronto) the USA and Europe.
The Ensemble now includes Mr. Raymond B. Sarweh, Nabil Chehata and Suzanne Meyers Sawa.
Their first CD, The Art of the Early Egyptian Qanun, was nominated for a Juno Award.

Downtown Toronto: $200
Each 30 minutes of travel time from Downtown Toronto is an additional $50
Outside of Downtown Toronto Proper: $250
*Events located within East York, North York, Thornhill, and Etobicoke are considered outside of Downtown Toronto.
GTA or Outside GTA: Base rate is $200, plus $50 per 30 minute of travel time from Downtown Toronto
*Events located within Mississauga, Woodbridge, Oakville, Hamilton, Durham and Oshawa are considered GTA or Outside GTA and will start at $300 and up.
Weekly Nightclub or Restaurant Performance
Rate: $125

Q: What do I get in the performance?
A: Tons of fun, professional entertainment, glamour, audience interaction, and wonderful memories!
A typical performance includes an exciting entrance piece with riveting rhythm changes. Following that, the dancer will invite the guests of honour up to dance with her (always in a tasteful, fun manner) to an upbeat song. Depending on your desires, she will get the audience engaged in more interactive fun, or perform beautiful solo dances to specially selected music or combine the two. Shows always end with a rousing and amazing drum solo dance.
Our belly dancers frequently dance with a veil and finger cymbals. Our dancers' costumes and presentation are of the best quality available.
Q: How long is the performance?
A: Through years of experience, we have found that the absolute best length for a belly dance performance is twenty minutes. If your event requires longer than a twenty minute performance, please contact us for a consultation. Our rate covers a 30 minute performance, but please be advised much over twenty minutes is overkill for your guests and will not be appreciated by the audience.
Q: I am looking for a performer for a bachelor party, are your belly dancers available?
A: Sorry, neither Nada nor any of her dancers perform for any all-male audiences under any circumstances. If you wouldn't want your children in the audience, then we won't be performing at the event.
Q: I am looking for a belly dancer to be a surprise for the bride and groom at the wedding, could I hire one of your dancers?
A: No, Nada and her dancers only perform at weddings with the prior consent (and happy anticipation) of the bride and groom.

Performance Requirements
Please tell us in advance what type of event this is, and what the cultural background of the majority of the guests is. This will help the performer in selecting her music.
A non refundable deposit of $100 is required to hold the date for special event performances.
All of the requirements below must be met for a performance from Hannan's Belly Dance Studio
- A dance space of at least 100 square feet for one dancer, and larger for 2 or 3 dancers.
- The dance space surface must be clear of objects, swept, clean and safe since the dancers dance in bare feet.
- An appropriate Music System (please note that a small speakers are not friendly to Arabic music). Your sound system must be loud enough to drown out any conversation and must be audible in all corners of the room. A boom box does not typically satisfy the needs of a performance.
- A private change room for the performer(s) with a door that locks.
- Final payment is made by cash or by cheque addressed to the performer.
- Minimum Charge is for half an hour of dance. This is regardless if the dancer is hired to dance for 5 min or 30 min.
- Please give the dancers accurate arrival and performing time.
Any delay beyond half an hour of the original booking time is charged $50 for each 15 min beyond this grace period.
- Make sure to tell the performer who the contact person will be so that she can provide that person with the Music (CD) and so that the contact person can direct the performer to the change room.
